A Day
I woke up early this afternoon
I washed my face, put on my shoes
I walked down to the grocery store
To get some food and so much more
I made my way to my favorite aisle
Near the candy bars and the puppy chow
What happened next just blew my mind
I met somebody so unkind
I kept on thinking to myself:
"Oh, what a day now"

The man was big and ugly too
He turned around and called me a fool
He said his kind don't like my kind
And it wouldn't even matter if he was blind
He saw me walking in the door
And right then he knew he couldn't take no more
His eyes got red, his face got blue
And said, "I'd rather be dead than be like you"
I kept on thinking to myself:
"Oh, what a day now"

I didn't have a clue what to do
So I just stood there and smiled
But he didn't like that, and that's a fact
Because he didn't even blink an eye
You must understand that I had plans
And I didn't want this to last
But as soon as I made my way out the door
The man said, "Not so fast!"
I kept on thinking to myself:
"Oh, what a day now"

He said whatever he had to say
Turned back around and he walked away
I shook my head and wondered why
He didn't even come back to apologize
But I came back soon and then he said
"I'm gonna take this fist and bust your head"
I looked at him with stars in my eyes
And I knew right then that wasn't a lie
Kept on thinking to myself:
"Oh, what a day now"

I kept on thinking to myself:
"Oh, what a day now"
